Google 在官方BLOG網站上宣佈從今年12月11日開始停止對桌面版 Google Drive 應用的支持，並且會在明年3月12日完成停止停止，意味著桌面版應用將會在明年正式關閉。雖然桌面版 Google Drive面臨關閉，但是Google官方已經提供了兩款全新的軟體工具，用來備份數據或者訪問雲端數據，有針對消費市場的Backup and Sync應用，而企業市場有Drive File Streamer應用。
