如果與你對簿公堂糾纏不清的競爭對手狀況不佳、但其內容服務似乎又有利可圖時，直接出手買下對方也是解決糾紛的一種辦法；根據 The Verge 引述的法院文件指稱， Epic Games 在日前就 Fonite 的 Android 版本因為拆潤問題而對簿公堂時， Google 曾想過乾脆買下部分甚至全部的 Epic Games 。
根據這份法院文件， 指出 Google 為了解決與 Epic Games 在 Fornite Android 的上架拆潤糾紛感染到其它客戶，除了與開發商重新就分潤談判避免客戶流失以外，也與 Epic 同時祭出糖果與鞭子，表示將 Fornite 上架 Play Store 將給予額外好處，也強調透過非 Play Store 安裝內容的體驗對消費者是悲劇，最後還有一個大膽的想法就是直接買下 Epic Games 。

不過 Epic Games 執行長 Tim Sweeney 在個人推特分享 The Verge 的文章後，表示他也是透過法庭資料才知道 Google 曾擬定收購 Epic Games 的計畫。

從目前的情況來看， Google 最終還是沒有啟動金錢攻勢買下 Epic Games ，可能考慮到當前行動遊戲市場的現況也似乎不那麼缺 Epic Games 。但如果從實際層面來看， Epic Games 的狀況仍舊不佳，在 2021 財年虧損達 1.39 億美金，並預估至少要到 2027 年才能獲利，或許對有意出手收購 Epic Games 的大手還在等最佳的低點吧。
