首度出現於 2008 年的 Intel Core i 處理器已經是一般電腦消費者所熟悉的子品牌，不過在即將邁入第 14 代代號 Metro Lake 產品之際，在測試軟體出現全新的 Core Ultra 處理器品牌，而 Intel 全球行銷總監 Bernard Fernandes 證實 Metro Lake 將採用全新的處理器品牌，並將在近幾週公布，如果以時間推測極可能會在 Computex 公布 Core Ultra 處理器子品牌，如果從這次的新命名方式，可能連「第 14 代 Core 」的稱呼也不復見。

在近日有人發現常見的測試軟體奇點灰燼 Ashes of the Singularity 出現代號 Core Ultra 5 1003H 的處理器測試分數，除了證實 Bernard Fernandes 指稱將改變產品命名以外，如果依照 Intel 以往的數字命名方式，似乎代表 Intel 也為了新品牌將命名從頭來過，否則如果依照第 14 代 Core 的產品世代，應該會稱為 Core i5-14X00H ，數字最尾數的 3 可能也會是全新命名方式所代表的特色，例如代表 GPU 的規模，但也可能只是工程樣品用的型號。

另外，也有一種推測指稱 Intel Core Ultra 可能僅是新子品牌當中的其中一項， Intel 有可能一句產品的級距賦予不同的命名方式，例如原本的 i9 等級冠上 Core Extreme 、 i7 冠上 Core Max 之類。

代號 Metro Lake 的下一代 Core 處理器將會採用 Chiplet 小晶片架構，將包括 IO 、 SOC 、 GPU 與 CPU 四個晶粒；其中 CPU 晶粒以全新的 Redwood Cove 作為 P Core ，而 E Core 將採用 Crestmont 架構(且其中還會有一組更低電壓的 E Core )， GPU 使用基於 Alchemist 、稱為 tGPU 的 Xe-LPG 架構。其中行動版的 H 系列與 P 系列處理器將配有最多 6P + 8E CPU ， U 系列則最多配有 4P + 8E CPU 。
